Pipa, nice to meet you

Praia da Pipa (Pipa Beach), or simply “Pipa,“ will find a place in your heart. It is the kind of place that when you meet someone else who has been there you feel like you share a secret, a special bond and understanding, because you have both been touched by the spirit of Pipa. The surfers in the ‘80s put this little beach town on the map and it is a destination not easily forgotten.
The village of Pipa is part of the district of Tibau do Sul, both being approximately a one-hour drive from the city of Natal, the capital city of the state of Rio Grande do Norte. Natal, which is home to an international airport, is the gateway to Pipa, making it an easily accessible international destination.
Despite the high influx of visitors, the modern infrastructure and the cosmopolitan influences, Pipa has maintained its small village charm evident by its narrow cobblestone streets and local businesses.
Let’s not forget the main attraction of this place: the beaches!
Pipa offers a selection of beaches with something to suit everyone. For example, Praia do Centro (Central Beach) is, as the name suggests, very central and easily accessed by foot from anywhere in the village. Whereas if you are a kiteboarder or advanced surfer, you may want to head down to Praia do Amor (Love Beach) which gets its name from its heart shaped shores. Not to be forgotten is Baia dos Golfinhos (Dolphin Bay) which is just that, a beach with dolphins that swim and play close to the shore. You may also see an organized game of beach soccer on these flat hard sands.
Praia do Madeiro, on the other hand, is a great beach to spend your day with family, friends or for some quiet time on your own. Whether you want to lounge under an umbrella, have lunch and a tropical drink, splash in natural wading pools, or take surf lessons from the locals, this is the place to be.
When heading to the beaches in Pipa don’t leave home without your tide guide. Baia dos Golfinhos, for example, can only be accessed by foot from either Praia do Centro or Praia do Madeiro and is surrounded by impressively high cliffs. So, should the tide come in while you’re taking an afternoon siesta, you could find yourself in some serious trouble.
Pipa will fill your soul and heart with its beauty and local flavour, so make sure to bring your adventurous spirit as Pipa will give you unforgettable memories.
